Who We Are
ATEFEO (Atelier d’Éducation et des Formations des Enfants Orphelins), meaning Orphans Education Program, was founded to support orphaned and vulnerable children through education and community-based initiatives in Burkina Faso.
Today, ATEFEO is evolving into the ATEFEO Future Pathways Initiative, expanding its work beyond educational support to create sustainable pathways that guide children and youth from childhood to independent adulthood.
Nicole Kambou established the program in 1987 and worked tirelessly for nearly a decade for official recognition from the Burkinabe government, which happened in 1996. ATEFEO consists of 100% unpaid volunteers who dedicate their time, efforts, and often personal resources to raise funds for organizations providing direct support to those who need it.
